Ronda

Your day trip to the picturesque and historic city of Ronda will last about eight hours, including the bus journey. Ronda has become increasingly popular as a day trip and short break destination in recent years, and with its unique location and character its not hard to see why. When we arrive you will have the opportunity to enjoy the view from the Alameda, and to visit the famous bull ring, the oldest in Spain and one of the favourite haunts of Ernest Hemingway and Orson Welles, and its museum, and absorb the atmosphere of the arena. This is followed by the spectacular Puente Nuevo (New Bridge) across the Tajo Gorge, the most famous of Ronda’s many beautiful sights.

In the afternoon, after a tapas lunch, we will explore the gorge itself and the lower bridges and arab baths, and the upper city (including the Plaza Duquesa de Parcent, reputed to be the most beautiful plaza in Spain), before finishing with a “magic moment” at the Parador hotel on the edge of the cliffs overlooking the gorge and the countryside beyond, cocktail in hand watching the birds showing off their aerobatic skills in the updraughts, seemingly just for sheer enjoyment.
